New Year's Sunrise January 1, 2007

All is quiet and calm, and we are in place to welcome in the new year.

This may be the first sunrise walk since we started coming here that Steve and I are by ourselves. That first year in 2000, there were a few other groups who had the same idea that chaos would reign with Y2K, and what better place to be than on top of Sibley Volcanic Regional Preserve, the 10 million year old volcano in our backyard!

Most years, it just gets lighter and we never see the sun through the thick fog. Not so this year. From the first peek over the hills to the southeast, the sun arrived blarin' and blazin'.

It's tough shooting into the sun.

Happy New Year!
